                    "蒲生君平は、高山彦九郎（たかやまひこくろう）・林子平（はやししへい）とともに優れた人を表す「寛政の三奇人」の１人といわれ、１７６８（明和５）年に旧新石町に生まれた。歴代天皇の御陵を調査した『山陵志（さんりょうし）』を著し修復の必要性を説き、また、朝廷の官職についてまとめた『職官志』の著者として有名である。「前方後円墳」の名付け親として知られるほか、古墳修復を訴えた尊王思想は、幕末の志士や明治維新に多大な影響を与えた。"
