                    "　資料や聞き取り調査から判明した7月12日深夜の宇都宮空襲後の被害地域。旧市内の箇所に記載されている円は、米軍が設定したMPI（Mean Point of Impact：平均弾着点）であるが、大きく逸れて旧村地域にも被害が出ていることがわかる。これは上空から狙って投下したものではなく、推測投下や投棄によって生じた結果であると思われる。\n　米軍資料に記載されている宇都宮以外の投下地点は、平（福島県いわき市）、仙台（宮城県）、石巻（宮城県）、大津（茨城県北茨城市）、日立（茨城県）および不明地区にそれぞれ１機が、臨機目標として爆撃を行っている。しかしその他県内にも、鹿沼、真岡、五十里など広範囲に落下している。"
